Two arrested following gas station robbery

Advertiser Staff

Two men were arrested yesterday morning in connection with the robbery and beating Wednesday night of a clerk at a Chevron gas station and convenience store on Kamehameha Highway near Kipapa Drive in Mililani.

Police said the clerk tried to stop a 24-year-old man from shoplifting four cans of snuff, but was attacked and beaten with a broom and a baseball bat by a 32-year-old man who was with the younger man.

The man who attempted to take the snuff was arrested on suspicion of second-degree robbery, while the man who hit the clerk with the bat was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Police said the clerk was beaten after he gave up trying to prevent the shoplifter from taking the snuff.
