BYU student gets psychology award

Alina Fong-Ichimura, a doctoral student in clinical psychology at Brigham Young University, has won the Harcourt Student Association Award by the American Psychological Association. Her research explores the brain's ability to recognize and assign meaning to words.


Two receive Coast Guard honors

In collaboration with the U.S. Coast Guard, Duke's Waikiki has recognized the recipients of the Coast Guard Sailor and Civilian of the Quarter Award for the third quarter 2004: Coast Guard DC2 Brian DeOrio and civilian Ronnie Galapon.

Recipients are selected for their hard work, dedication and commitment to the U.S. Coast Guard. Each is awarded with a $50 gift certificate from Duke's Waikiki.


HPU student wins logo design contest

Christine Longboy, a Hawai'i Pacific University communications graduate student, took two of three top honors at this year's Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication national logo contest. Longboy won first and second place for her logo designs for the association's 2005 convention in San Antonio, Texas.

Longboy's design will be used on the association's publications throughout the year and on materials related to the organization's upcoming conference.
