Au captures two gold; Nishi takes 2 bronze
Hawai'i's Elisa Au won two gold medals and Shannon Nishi earned two bronze medals for the United States karate team in the biennial 17th World Championships in Monterrey, Mexico, last month.
Both athletes are coached by sensei Chuzo Kotaka, who also coached his son, George, to a 2002 World Championship gold medal in Madrid, Spain.
Au won a gold two years ago in Spain, while Nishi was making her first appearance in several years because of injury.
