ISLAND LIFE SHORTS
Deadline for bids hours away
Advertiser Staff
Bidding for The Advertiser's "Creations for a Cause" Christmas ornaments has been going on for more than a week. But today, the real fun begins as we enter the last few hours of the fund-raiser. Who will sneak in the final bid? Which ornament will earn top honors? The online bidding closes 1 p.m. today. Winning bids are charitable donations for the Advertiser Christmas Fund.
If you haven't yet, go to www.honolulu
advertiser.com and click on "Creations for a Cause" to view the six ornament packages and a Christmas-tree lamp. The online bidding has raised $641 for the Advertiser Christmas Fund so far. Among the offerings: Joel Park's "Christmas Bells" and Charlene Tashima's "Christmas Critter Star." Top bids for these ornaments yesterday morning were $80 and $75, respectively. The Kaimuki artists, each of whom typically sells glass-bead jewelry for up to $300, created their ornaments out of clay and hand-made glass.
