Red Cross honors John Henry Felix
The Hawaii State Chapter of the American Red Cross honored John Henry Felix with the Tiffany Diamond Window Award. He was instrumental in securing the land lease for Red Cross headquarters at Diamond Head in 1971 and helping in its construction. He is also involved in renovation efforts.
Judiciary workers are recognized
Hawai'i State Judiciary employees and groups honored recently for contributions to the state court system are: Meritorius Service Award to Gail Hedani, Brook Mamizuka, Blanche Okimoto and Joanne Yanagida; Spirit of the Judiciary Award to Amina Kam and Elsie Shimizu. Certificates of Commendation to Jacqueline Murai and the Program Services Unit and Labor Relations Branch.
Energy efficiency projects cited
Two City & County of Hono-lulu projects have won the grand prize in the Energy Efficiency Awards Program. They are the installation of light-emitting diode traffic signals at more than 400 intersections and adding energy-efficient air-conditioning, lighting and a combined heat and power system at Honolulu Hale.
Other winners: Pacific Guardian Tower (commercial), Hawaiki Tower (residential), Iolani School Multiple Purpose Building (institutional), Ford Island Navy Housing (military residential), Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (military institutional) and Marine Corps Base Hawai'i (military multi-facility).
Honorable mentions were: Central Pacific Plaza, Kaimuki Shopping Center, The Honolulu Advertiser printing plant, Kapi'olani Center for Women and Children, the U.S. Coast Guard's Thompson Hall Duty Berthing, Schofield Barracks' Waste Water Treatment Plant and Hickam Air Force Base.
