Three boys nabbed in two robbery cases

Police arrested three boys on O'ahu yesterday in connection with two robbery cases reported by school students over the past several days.

A 14-year-old Kailua High School student told police he was approached about noon yesterday by another 14-year-old boy at the school who demanded money from him.

The victim refused to turn over his money but the other boy used force to take it from him, police said.

The boy accused of the robbery was arrested but was later released without charges, pending further investigation.

In the other case, a boy who attends 'Aiea Intermediate School told police he was eating lunch in a classroom about 1 p.m. Tuesday when two boys approached him, demanded candy and then assaulted him when he refused to give them any.

While one of the boys continued to assault him, the other searched his backpack but did not take anything, police said.

The two boys, whose ages were not given, were arrested for suspicion of robbery and were released without charges, pending further investigation.



Man is arrested in beating of brother

A 32-year-old Kahuku man was arrested yesterday in connection with the beating on Sunday of his 35-year-old brother.

The older brother, who reported the incident yesterday at the Kahuku police station, told officers he suffered a facial injury during the attack.

Police went to the home where the two brothers live and arrested the younger one for suspicion of second-degree assault, a felony.



Alleged car thief caught by police

Police arrested a 19-year-old Wahiawa man in Wai'anae yesterday on suspicion of car theft.

A Pearl City man who owns the car saw it being driven by the other man and followed it while he notified police.

Police caught up with the car after the suspected car thief got into a collision. He also was arrested for suspicion of driving without a license. He was released without charges, pending further investigation.
