Help us find Hawai'i's Island Heroes

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i is still a "hometown," where neighbors look after neighbors, a shaka says thank you and there is deep understanding of aloha — tolerance, humility, sharing and respect. Our friends, neighbors and co-workers lend a hand, share a smile and make a difference every day. They shy away from the spotlight, but life wouldn't be the same without them reaching out to the homeless, giving to the less-fortunate, and working selflessly so that others know a better life.

We'd like to hear about these "Island Heroes" for an upcoming feature. Send your nomination by e-mail to hawaii@honoluluadvertiser.com, or to City Desk, P.O. Box 3110, Honolulu, HI 96802. The deadline is Dec. 17.
