Bicyclist injured in collision

Advertiser Staff

A bicyclist was listed in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center yesterday morning after a collision with a pickup truck at the corner of Nu'uanu Avenue and North Kukui Street.

Police said the man, estimated to be in his late 40s to early 50s, was traveling westbound on North Kukui Street about 6:30 a.m. when he failed to stop for a red traffic signal.

The bicyclist was struck by a 1989 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling south on Nu'uanu Avenue. The truck was being operated by a 50-year-old Kailua man.

The bicyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, suffered head and other injuries, police traffic investigators said.
