Goodwill MVPs will have added incentive

Bank of Hawaii will give out scholarship awards of $250 in the names of each of the four most valuable players named in tonight's HUB Goodwill Football Classic at Aloha Stadium, according to a Classic press release.

WHERE: Aloha Stadium. TICKETS: $5 general; 6 and under free PARKING: $2. TV/RADIO: OC 16 will broadcast the game live; no radio. Each year, the game awards the top offensive and defensive players from both the East and West teams with a trophy. This time, the bank's monetary awards will be presented to the leagues either Interscholastic League of Honolulu or O'ahu Interscholastic Association in the name of the selected players, according to the game's press release.
The game features seniors from the OIA and ILH. Teams are split geographically. Teams from the OIA West, plus Damien, Kamehameha and Punahou make up the West squad, while teams from the OIA East, plus Saint Louis, Pac-Five and Iolani make up the East squad. Teams from the OIA White play on teams that match their geographical area. There are 50 players on each team.
Tickets are $5 for general admission. Children 6 years and under will be admitted free.
The game is sponsored by the Hawaii Union Builders Foundation, which started the game 14 years ago.
Correction: East team member Ervin Smiley plays for Moanalua High. In Wednesday's rosters, another school was listed with his name.
Kickoff is 7:30 p.m. with opening ceremonies set for 7.
