Drag racing — where drivers hit 220 mph on a quarter-mile straightaway track — will be held at Hawai'i Raceway Park.

Stock car racing will be held on an oval track at Hawai'i Motorspeedway.

The venues are in different areas of the park.

The drag racing event is called the Auto Value Parts Stores' South Pacific Championships and will showcase 90 drivers from the 50th State Pro Gas Association. It starts at 6 p.m. and tickets are $15.

Members compete once a month. Current leaders in the different categories are Michael Sittman, Leonard Barboza, James Barboza, Darryl Fukumoto and Scott Kaichi.

The stock car event is called the Paradise Lua's Championship Cup. It starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10, $5 for keiki, and free for children 4 and under.

Current leaders in each stock car class are John Perry (Super Street Stock), Brandon Ternora (Econo Sprints), Jimbo Joseph (Modifieds), Kapena Keliinoi (Mini-Stocks), Eddie Saballa (Mini-Modified), Dean Freitas (Winged Sprints), and Lonnie Baker Sr. (Cruzer Bruzers).
