Christmas ornaments raise $897

Paulette Kahalepuna doesn't own a computer, so she didn't follow the online bidding for The Advertiser's "Creations for a Cause" fund-raiser that ended last week. But as one of the co-creators of "Dreams," the ornament that topped the bidding at $250, Kahalepuna summed up this year's benefit perfectly when told the results: "Wooh! It's so genuinely exciting. I think it's great that it generated interest, especially for charity." We couldn't have said it better. Kahalepuna, along with "Dreams" creative partner Mary Lou Kekuewa and our six other Island artists, raised $897 in online bids for charity. An anonymous Santa has offered to match the first $25 for each of the seven Advertiser Christmas Fund donations, meaning "Creations for a Cause" raised $1,072, topping last year's $665 total.
Much mahalo to our eight talented artists and the hundreds of readers who participated in this worthy cause. Until next year ...
