No-hitter lifts Punahou past Iolani

Advertiser Staff

Sarah Weisskopf tossed a no-hitter, allowing just two base runners, leading Punahou to a 6-0 victory over Iolani yesterday in an Interscholastic League of Honolulu softball game at Punahou's field.

Weisskopf struck out five and walked one batter, who was erased on a double play. The only other Raider to reach base came on an error.

A four-run first inning gave Weisskopf all the cushion she needed. Gail Matsushima had an RBI double, Adrienne Tanaka a run-scoring triple and Kim Nagamine an RBI single to spark the inning.

Matsushima finished 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Cristen Aona went 3 for 4 and scored two runs, and Tanaka had two hits.

Punahou is 2-0. Iolani is 0-2.

Other highlights:

• Kamehameha's Noe Esperas struck out 12, walked one and allowed two hits in a 5-1 victory over Sacred Hearts. Noe Hoopii was 3 for 3, including a double and two RBIs.
