Tonight's Must-See

Tonight on KHNL News 8

Get the latest news at 5, 6 and 10 from Howard Dashefsky and Jodi Leong, plus up-to-the-minute weather from Sharie Shima.

At 5, 6 and 10: The new John A. Burns School of Medicine building is set to open in Kaka'ako. We'll have a sneak preview of the University of Hawai'i's state-of-the-art facility.

"Legend of Earth Sea," 7 p.m., Sci Fi Channel; repeats at 9 and 11 p.m., concludes Tuesday. On a remote island, a blacksmith's son feels he has a larger destiny. He's drawn to magic; he has visions of a beautiful priestess. Then everything collides. Hordes attack. An evil king thirsts for power. Another island offers training, danger — and the priestess. There is more with a confusing jumble of people and creatures. Shawn Ashmore and Kristin Kreuk ("Smallville") are likable heroes. Director Rob Lieberman creates a grand, sweeping look.

Of Note

"Still Standing," 7 p.m., CBS. Bill and Judy worry about the growing romance between their daughter and the neighbor boy.

"Ultimate Survival," 7 and 8 p.m., History Channel. In 1912, Douglas Mawson was the lone survivor of an Antarctica ordeal. Some 84 years later, Mark Stasik — who had loved reading Mawson's memoirs — survived an Alaskan nightmare. Those two stories are juxtaposed in the first hour, with skillful recreations. The second has the story of climber Hugh Herr stranded on Mount Washington.

"Snow," 8 p.m., ABC Family. If you missed this film's debut Sunday, catch it now. Tom Cavanagh is a delight as a stumbling Santa-to-be and Ashley Williams is luminous as the zookeeper who unknowingly has his new reindeer.

"Las Vegas," 8 and 9 p.m., NBC. In a change of plans, NBC has back-to-back reruns, each with Danny and Mike doing some investigating. In the first, they must clear Ed (James Caan) of murder charges; in the second, they probe who stole a lobster truck, which ruins Sam's elaborate party plans.

"Everybody Loves Raymond," 8 p.m., CBS. In its final season, this wonderful comedy dips deep into its vault for this holiday episode. Everyone — even Debra's parents — seems to like the odd toaster Ray is giving out. The exceptions are his parents.

"Two and a Half Men," 8:30 p.m., CBS. When Charlie hits on a beauty (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe of "Nash Bridges") in a bar, she isn't interested. He soon learns that there's a Web site devoted to destroying him.
