Make a pau hana visit to Kona Brewing Co. in Koko Marina today through Friday and they'll donate $1 to the Bishop Museum for every pint you order. If you are a Bishop Museum member, show your membership card when ordering dinner now through Dec. 31 and your table will receive a free pupu.

And check out the artwork while you're there; with the help of Bishop Museum collections manager DeSoto Brown, they have installed a display of vintage photos of what is now the Hawai'i Kai area. This, and a new menu, are a celebration of the restaurant's first anniversary.

Restaurants serve up holiday specials

Although many restaurants will close Christmas Day, those serving the tourist industry will remain open — offering an opportunity for a nontraditional celebration if you're not in the mood to cook. Among menus we've heard about:

• Tiki's Grill & Bar will offer a special menu Dec. 24-31 of homestyle dishes in keeping with the warmth of the season, developed by chef Fred DeAngelo and pastry chef Ron Viloria (Island cioppino, grilled lamb chops, carrot pudding with candied ginger cream, baked Hawai'i with pineapple ice cream). 923-8454.

• Also in Waikiki, d.k. Steak House will offer a $45 four-course menu on Dec. 24 and 25 in addition to the regular menu. Among the offerings: beef carpaccio or smoked salmon appetizer, garlic soup or wedge salad, bouillabaisse or petit filet and prawns. 931-6280.
