Honolulu Triathlon registration begins

Registration for the 2005 JAL Honolulu Triathlon has opened online at the Web site www.honolulutriathlon.com.

The open-age amateur event starts and ends at Kapi'olani Park on April 17. It costs $75 for individuals and $100 for teams until the early deadline of Feb. 28, and $100 for individuals and $125 for teams afterward.

The triathlon includes a one-mile swim loop, a 25-mile bike ride, and a 6.2-mile run.

Roughly 1,500 competitors are expected for the race.

The day before the amateur triathlon, 60 of the world's best will compete in the International Triathlon Union JAL Honolulu World Cup for $60,000 in prize money.

CORRECTION

Ikaika Hardie was named to the Interscholastic League of Honolulu all-star football first team. Hardie, a 5-foot-9, 160-pound senior, was named as a specialist. A picture of another player ran in some editions.
