Two Schofield soldiers hurt in crash

An OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter from Schofield Barracks crashed yesterday in Afghanistan just north of Shindand in Herat Province, the U.S. military said.
The crash site was secured immediately and there were no enemy forces reported in the area.
Both pilots on board the two-seat aircraft with the 3rd Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment were injured, and they were evacuated to a medical facility at Kandahar Airfield. Their injuries are not life threatening, officials said.
The crash was not the result of any hostile action, and, according to the pilots, there was no fire reported from the ground.
An investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the crash.
