Inmate escapes from O'ahu Community Correctional Center

State Deputy Sheriffs are looking for an inmate who escaped from the O'ahu Community Correctional Center at 8:35 a.m. this morning.

Michael Ventura, 25, a minimum security inmate, escaped through a fence, state officials said. A piece of Ventura's uniform was found on the fence near Annex One, which is a minimum-security area on the Foremost Dairy side of the facility.

On Dec. 14, Ventura was sentenced on third degree assault charges and was scheduled to be released on January 26, 2005. He is not considered dangerous.

Ventura is described as 5'4" tall, weighs 127 lbs., has brown eyes and black hair.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Michael Ventura is urged to call the Department of Public Safety Deputy Sheriffs dispatch at 538-5696 or call 911.
