How does he do it? Fitness plays an important role in keeping up his energy and enthusiasm for all the work he does for the community, his family and his fans.

Name: Michael W. Perry.

Age: 57.

Profession: radio (KSSK, "Perry and Price") and TV ("Hawaiian Moving Company")

Height: 6 feet 2.

Weight: 193 pounds.

Target weight: About 190 ("The last time I weighed 190 I was in the Navy.")

Workout habits: "I work out two to three times a week at Mid-Pacific Country Club fitness center. I used to jog, but my feet don't cooperate anymore. I use the treadmill and StairMaster for low-impact cardio, then lift weights for upper body and strength. I don't do anything that will break, strain, pull, inflame or damage any body parts."

When and why I started working out: "I've been fit off and on all my life. However, there's a sense of urgency now, and fitness has become more important to me now than ever before. I feel so good. I really do. Working out can help in more ways than one."

My good foods/bad foods: "Red wine (Really! About 10 ounces a day.) They say it's good for your heart. I used to think rice cakes were good for you. Turns out they can turn you into a sumo wrestler as fast as anything else. Now I'm on sort of a low-snack, moderate-carb diet with lots of fish and chicken, easy on the fat and heavy on the vegetables."

My biggest motivator: "No. 1: Genetics. I have a family history of heart problems. No. 2: My wife, Vickie, who has been known to say subtle things like: 'You're getting fat.' "
