Car accident and oil spill close tunnels

The Likelike tunnel is closed in the Kaneohe bound direction because of a car crash.
The tunnel closed at 10:08 a.m. on the Kalihi side after a car hit the side wall.

Also, the Wilson tunnel is closed in both directions.

The town bound lane is closed due to a vehicle fire that needs to be towed and the Kaneohe bound lane is closed due to an oil spill.



Man allegedly fondled girl, 15

Police yesterday caught up with a 27-year-old man who allegedly fondled a 15-year-old girl about 11 a.m. Sunday at the Pearlridge Shopping Center.

The girl, from Kapolei, reported the incident on Sunday. Police located the suspect yesterday and arrested him on suspicion of third-degree sexual assault.



Check-forgery suspect nabbed

A man suspected of passing two forged checks last month at a Ward Warehouse store was arrested yesterday after the store manager spotted him in the store.

Police said the man used forged checks to buy goods at the store Nov. 13 and 14.

When the manager noticed the 43-year-old man in the store again yesterday, police were called. The man was arrested on two counts of suspicion of second-degree forgery.



Man suspected of stealing $6,000

A 25 year-old man who is suspected of using a forged check to steal $6,000 from a friend was arrested yesterday while trying to board an airline flight back home to the Mainland.

Police said they believe the man stole the check from a friend while staying at the friend's house in Mililani during a visit to Hawai'i.

The suspect took a check drawn on his friend's business account, made it payable to himself for $6,000 and cashed it, police said.

They said the man was arrested yesterday at the airport on suspicion of second-degree forgery.
