SHOW BIZ
Best wishes to the names who kept us entertained

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

'Twas the night before Christmas

And all through Hawai'i

Santa was gift-wrapping

With bows and laua'e.

His shopping was pau

His lu'au feet, tired.

Was time fo' deliver

So he had the list wired.

For Jasmine Trias,

He found, without hitch

A song so Idolesque

With just the right pitch.

For Camile Velasco,

Some advice in staging.

She's got the voice

But needs kokua engaging.

For Jordan Segundo,

A spot on the charts.

For Fred and Julie,

A tree full of hearts.

For Emme Tomimbang,

Another 10 years

Of hip musical moments

And maybe some tears.

A one-way ticket home

For Evan Dobelle.

And for the UH regents?

No mo' presidential hell.

An extra hour of sleep

For Perry and Price.

And static-free microphones

Would surely be nice.

A showroom that's bright

For crooner Danny Couch.

Plus a bill of clean health

Minus throat woes. Ouch!

Just rest, good health

For retiring Jeremy Harris.

Whose term in office

Spun like a wheel (Ferris).

Some surplus funding

For Mayor Mufi Hannemann

To continue the brunches;

The movies, too. Can?

For Gov. Lingle,

At last, school reform.

For UH-Manoa?

No mo' raging storm.

A global best-seller

For uke-strumming Jake.

And unbreakable strings

For both Ohtas, goodness sake.

An Emmy for Fox and Lilly

And the cast of "Lost";

They're all happy to be here

(It could've been frost).

For the "North Shore" crew,

Egg nog from St. Nick;

And better scripts, more viewers

Would, ahem, do the trick.

And for "Hawaii,"

May it rest in peace.

On paper it sounded great;

In reality, it was hissed.

For Tia and Jason,

Our Hollywood stars:

A new local project

That won't leave scars.

For model-actor Momoa,

Another art show.

A slot for Frank B. Shaner

He's artsy, too, ya know?

For funsters DeLima,

Bumatai and Ogata:

A new place to perform

Please try ... you just gotta.

With Augie and Mel

Both eyeing the Mainland

They goin' turn America

Into one local insaneland.

For Darlene and Marlene,

Robi, Forté and Glenn:

May the songs and the CDs

Keep going, no end.

For Martin Nievera,

A deal to come home.

And why not for Charo?

Who's still on the roam.

For TV producers

Lee, Feldman and Arnone,

Prime specials, hot topics,

Real people, not phony.

"Hawaii Stars" residuals

For Carole and Dirk.

More gastronomical excursions

For Fujinaga and Kirk.

For Lee Cataluna,

Another hit musical play.

For Martin Denny,

"Exotica" platinum would make his day.

A head of fresh blooms

For Kealoha and Karen.

A gold conductor's baton

For up-and-coming Daren.

For Jimmy and Shari,

Continued good cheer.

A Grammy for Keola Beamer

Would certainly be dear.

For Keali'i Reichel,

That Christmas CD.

For Makaha Sons, Kapena,

Maunalua ... DVD?

For the Society of Seven

Las Vegas and orig,

Perhaps a room swap

Playing each other's gig?

Tours hither and yon

For Amy and Willie.

For Makana, Tony C, too,

With halau ... what a dilly.

Perhaps it's time

For a "Tiny Bubbles" revival.

Of course, by Don Ho,

Who is Mr. Survival.

Don't tell, just deliver

New wheels for The Caz.

For Na Leo, more harmony,

With a skosh razzle-dazz.

For John Hirokawa,

A new magic trick or two.

For juggling Gabaylo,

Wider following will do.

For Jack and Cha,

More time for mo'opuna.

More travels for Mai Tai,

Not later, but sooner.

For PR folks Lisa,

Aubrey and Bonnie,

Lynette, Sheila, Piia, David:

Something basic — more money.

An autobiographical film

By and of Eddie Kamae.

And a new Sons recording

Would make his fans sigh.

For 'Ale'a, Pali,

Ho'okena, even Vaihi,

National attention

Would be maika'i.

For all Grammy contenders

Good luck and good cheer.

In a sense, you're all winners

We all embrace and endear.

Energizer batteries

For devoted Jim Nabors.

At this time of year,

My, how he labors.

For Kit Samson, the pianist:

No more health woes.

For ballerina Amanda,

No more sore toes.

For filmdom's Chris Lee,

More flicks to produce.

For Loretta Ables Sayre?

Songs that seduce.

For Boller and Goes,

And Maui's Barry Rivers:

New flicks that bring laughter

Or sadness or shivers.

For our chef faves

Like Roy, Mavro, Chai,

Hiroshi, D.K., Wayne,

James, Russell ... banzai!

For Leon and Malia,

For Randy and Gay,

For Al and Nancy:

Stay coupled, OK?

Another night spot

For tireless Cione.

He's really unretired

(Think he'd give up his throne?).

For Yemun and Gloria

And Peyton and Moffatt,

And Golden Voicers, too:

May you always show profit.

May the songs never cease

For Cecilio and Kapono.

And may Hapa be heard

From Nu'uanu to Nanaikapono.

And pray for maluhia

Between June and Joe.

And bring back the Rainbows

(The fans will, well, glow).

For Audy, Jon, Jim,

For Gaylord, for Aaron:

May your CD production juice

Never go barren.

For Wong, Lutwak, Smith,

Martin, Rampage and Bright,

Matsumoto, Maltby, Cannon:

Keep "playing" all night.

For all that rhyming

He's penned, yes, he's hooked;

Jay Larrin, the singer,

Should just put out that book.

For Shiro Matsuo

With heart oh-so gentle,

Perhaps a poetry book

To set on his mantle?

For Raiatea Helm

And Auntie Genoa Keawe:

May they never lose

That hold-the-high-note savvy.

For McDiarmid, de Mello,

Uehara, Iervolani:

May the winds of good music

Blow sweetly, kamakani.

And, Santa, what else,

But gems for Melveen.

And precious woods for Kaiwa

Would certainly be keen.

For singer Jack Johnson,

Just more down time at home.

For Lois-Ann Yamanaka,

A brand-new comic tome.

Full houses, bright stars

For Akina and Bloom.

It's often a challenge

To fill up that room.

For maestro Sam Wong

And pops mogul Matt:

More stellar big names —

The fans really like that.

And electrical power

To fuel that marquee.

'Twould make the Hawai'i Theatre

And Burton glow. Whee!

For KITV's Rosenberg,

A definitive primer

With ratings advisory:

To watch live or use timer?

For Tino, sleek wax

To shine his bald head.

Hey, Ray Bumatai:

Tell him it's no dread.

And salsa galore

For Rolando Sanchez.

For Noel, John and Gabe?

A dose of cool jazz.

For you loyal readers,

You Mr. and Ms.

Aloha, good cheer;

This is our Christmas Show Biz. ...
