Advertiser Staff
Two brothers were charged yesterday in connection with the stabbing death of a 26-year-old Waipahu man on Thursday.
Edilberto Tagari, 31, was charged with second-degree murder for the death of Ronelle Balon. Tagari's younger brother, Enrico Tagari, 25, was charged with first-degree hindering prosecution.
Police said the Tagari brothers worked with Balon at a landscaping business in Waipahu. Shortly after 5 p.m. on Thursday, the three were playing cards when they got into an argument.
The men began to scuffle and Edilberto Tagari allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Balon, police said. The Tagari brothers got into a car and fled, police said.
About two hours after the incident, police said, the two men turned themselves in at the Kalihi substation.
Edilberto Tagari's bail was set at $100,000 and Enrico Tagari's bail was set at $25,000.
Two people in Kalihi were injured Saturday night in a stabbing that sent one of the victims to the hospital.
The two male victims, one of them a minor, were hurt during a knife fight on the 600 block of North King Street, police said.
The adult was taken to The Queen's Medical Center; no information was available yesterday on his condition.
The suspect fled before police arrived and no arrests had been made as of last night.
Also yesterday, police continued to investigate the Dec. 22 shooting death of Robert E. Lee, 71, in Makiki. Police do not have a suspect in the case.
