HAWAI'I BRIEFS
Crashes leave 2 critically injured

Separate crashes on O'ahu Sunday left two people in critical condition at The Queen's Medical Center.

A 48-year-old motorcyclist from Salt Lake was injured at about 5 p.m. when his 1997 Harley-Davidson motorcycle hit the rear of a Chevrolet pickup truck as the two vehicles were heading south on H-2 Freeway about three miles north of the Ka Uka Boulevard off-ramp.

Police said the motorcyclist apparently was attempting to change lanes when he ran into the pickup. The motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet, police said. He was taken to Queen's, and was in critical condition yesterday.

Police had few details about the second incident but said a teenage boy was critically injured Sunday night after he crashed a motorized "Razor-type" scooter on 10th Avenue in Kaimuki.
