Rainbow Warriors lose first of season, 79-78

Chris Berry hit two free throws with 27 seconds left to lift Fresno State to a 79-78 men's college basketball victory over Hawai'i at Fresno, Calif., tonight.

Hawai'i had the final possession but Jeff Blackett missed on a 22-footer as time expired.

It was the first loss of the season for the Rainbow Warriors (8-1). Fresno State is 7-3. It was the Western Athletic Conference opener for both teams.

Hawai'i led 41-32 at halftime, and led by as many as 11 in the second half.

Julian Sensley led Hawai'i with 23 points. Blackett added 18 points and eight rebounds.

Ja'Vance Coleman and Donovan Morris led Fresno State with 20 points each. Mustafa Al-Sayyad added 15.

Hawai'i plays Nevada at Reno on Saturday.
