Escaped inmate captured

Police quickly captured an inmate from O'ahu Community Correctional Center who escaped custody today while being treated at a local hospital, the Department of Public Safety said.

Honolulu police officers apprehend Kaimiola Lee, who bolted from custody today while being treated at St. Francis Medical Center.

Kaimiola Lee, 22, was reported missing from his room at the St. Francis Medical Center around 8:45 a.m. Police captured Lee a short time later near the hospital, a news release said.

Lee was being treated at St. Francis for an accidental overdose of Tylenol. He had been in the facility since Monday. His escape attempt is under investigation, the release said.

Lee is awaiting sentencing on first-degree burglary charges and now faces an additional five years in custody on escape charges.
