K5, which was televising the Hawai'i-Fresno State game, lost its feed from Sports West for much of the second half last night.
John Fink, vice president and general manager of KHNL and K5, said the satellite receiver provided by Sports West "had a malfunction" and "our engineers couldn't get it" to work again.
Fink said because the receiver came from Sports West there was no backup.
"We apologize, but there was not much (else) we could do," Fink said. "We used it during football season and it was fine."
