Arrest follows bank robbery

Advertiser Staff

A 48-year-old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of robbing an American Savings Bank in Wahiawa, police said.

A man entered the bank about 11:13 a.m., approached the counter and showed a teller a pistol as he demanded cash, police said. The man then ran out of the bank with an undisclosed amount and drove away in a black Kia sports utility vehicle.

The vehicle was found in Waialua a short time later by police. People in the area told officers they could find the suspect in Hale'iwa, where he was arrested.

First-degree robbery charges were pending.
