Pearl City routs Wai'anae

Marina Gusman struck out 15 in six scoreless innings and batted 3 for 4 with a double, two homers and four RBIs as Pearl City routed Wai'anae, 16-1, in an O'ahu Interscholastic Association softball game yesterday.
Gusman left in the seventh with a cramp in her forearm, said coach Keoki Behic.
Crystal Plunkett and Lauren Fujisaki pitched the final inning.
Plunkett went 4 for 5 with a double and triple for the Chargers, who scored five in the first and six in the seventh.
Kaimuki 1, Roosevelt 0: Genesis Fruean pitched a one-hitter and Nina Mareko scored the game's only run from third on a fielding error in the bottom of the first inning for Kaimuki. Mareko batted 2 for 3 with two doubles.
Kapolei 16, Campbell 7: Austi Paris went 4 for 4 with six RBIs, including a grand slam in the third inning, for the Hurricanes.
Kahuku 5, Castle 0: Kamaile Hughes pitched a three-hitter with five strikeouts to carry the Red Raiders. Kailua 6, Kaiser 0: Courtney Kessell tossed a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and batted 2 for 4 for the Surfriders. Mililani 7, Nanakuli 0: Makani Duhayionsod and Tirra-lynn Cuba combined on a five-hitter for the Trojans.
