'Bows to play S. Illinois in Bracket Buster

The University of Hawai'i men’s basketball team will play Southern Illinois in the marquee game of ESPN’s Bracket Buster Saturday on Feb. 21.The game between the Rainbow Warriors and the Salukis is the only Bracket Buster game scheduled to be televised nationally on ESPN that day. Other games will be televised on ESPN2 or ESPN regional television.
The game, which will be played in Carbondale, Ill., is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. (Hawai'i time).
The pairings for all 23 of the Bracket Buster games were announced today by ESPN.
Hawai'i is currently 15-4 overall and tied for first in the Western Athletic Conference at 7-2. Southern Illinois is 16-2 overall and alone in first place in the Missouri Valley Conference at 10-0.
The Bracket Buster was created by ESPN last year as a showcase for college basketball’s so-called "mid-major" programs. Hawai'i won their Bracket Buster game last year at Kent State, 79-78.
In other games involving WAC teams, Louisiana-Lafayette will play at Rice, East Tennessee State will play at Fresno State, Gonzaga is at Tulsa, and Toledo is at Nevada.
