Pro Bowl halftime show gets juggled

UPDATES: Yes, there have been ads and announcements about an *N Sync member performing at the halftime show of Sunday's Pro Bowl, but after a bit of a shuffle play, here's the score: Amy Hanaiali'i Gilliom and Willie K. will indeed shine the spotlight on Hawai'i at halftime at Aloha Stadium for a national audience, debuting their original welcoming song, "E Komo Mai." The real winnah: Hawai'i. ...

There was a local angle to that Janet Jackson-Justin Timberlake fiasco at the Super Bowl, in which he ripped off part of her costume to reveal her breast. Jackson's choreographer, Gil Duldulao, is from Hawai'i, though media references to him neglected to say that, and his comment about "some shocking moments in there" were made before the surprising revelation. The question is: Did he know the pair would pull that stunt? ...

That Fox TV pilot, originally perceived as "Big Island" and then dubbed an "untitled" project, now will be called "O'ahu," with filming starting later this month. Anna Fishburn Casting is tending to local casting, with Julie Carlson involved. The show, set at an Island resort, is looking for female and male bikini/model types — bodies beautiful, in other words — age 18-40, with auditions set from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday at Fishburn Casting, 1121 Nu'uanu Ave., Suite 200. COCONUT WIRELESS: Stone Phillips' interview with impresario David Gest, taped by NBC TV during the holidays, will air on "Dateline" at 7 p.m. tomorrow. Gest 'fesses up about his rocky relationship with now estranged wife Liza Minnelli, and tells Phillips and "Dateline" how neurologist Dr. Leo Maher administered painful shots in the eyebrows, ears, forehead, head and neck. ...

Gest, who produced two events on New Year's Eve, apparently plans to have a continuing presence in Hawai'i. "I plan to do more shows," he told us recently. "And also open a club, where I would have guest artists rotating." ...

Ginny Tiu, marking her 10th year at the Sheraton Moana Surfrider, attracted lots of friends and family last Friday. Pianist Noly Paa, with whom she worked, stopped by; ditto, Vicki and Jimmy Borges, Jim Nabors and Judy Murata, Ben and Vicky Cayetano (Vicky is Ginny's sister), mom Pat, and nephew William. Ginny's dad, William, who taught his daughter to play piano, wasn't up to par, but a videographer taped the event for posterity. ...

When Ginny showed up Saturday at the Michael W. Perry-Larry Price morning show at John Dominis to promote her Valentine's Day gig with singer-guitarist John Valentine, she took to the keyboards. Because a piano bench was not available, she resorted to a makeshift booster, unbeknownst to the audience, but sitting on an extra cushion for elevation. ...

Don Ho still draws a celeb following at the Waikiki Beachcomber Hotel. Singer Jack Jones stopped by one night; ditto, Lester Merle, veteran drummer who has played for Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Mel Torme, Lou Rawls and the Manhattan Transfer. ...

AROUND TOWN: Leslie Wilcox has inked a new five-year contract and will remain at KHON-2, the Fox affiliate and the town's news leader. She'll continue to co-anchor the 5 p.m. newscasts with Ron Mizutani and will consequently maintain ties with the Lokahi Tree Giving Project she founded during the holidays. ...

Dates to circle: blink-182, the punk pop combo from San Diego, heads this way for shows: 7 p.m. April 3 at the Blaisdell Arena, and 7 p.m. April 4 at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. Tickets go on sale Feb. 14. ...
