How Hawai'i hotels are faring
Advertiser Staff
Kaua'i hotels experienced a 25.2 percent occupancy surge from a much weaker January last year to 75.1 percent for the week ended Saturday, according to Hospitalty Advisors LLC. The large increase also reflects in part the continuous decline in room inventory on Kaua'i because of timeshare conversions. Kaua'i also recorded the highest average daily rate with an 11.9 percent gain. Statewide hotel occupancy dropped by 5.9 percent from prior year to 69.9 percent. Statewide room rate remained relatively flat at $150.53.
