Cheesecake Factory helps cancer groups

Advertiser Staff

A new restaurant in Waikiki has provided a sweet introduction to two local charities.

The Cheesecake Factory's grand opening in December generated more than $30,000 for the Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i and the Hawai'i Children's Cancer Foundation, according to the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i.

The benefit was held Dec. 6 at the family restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center. John Landgraf, president of the Friends group, said the restaurant donated 100 percent of the proceeds.

The Friends group promotes community support of cancer research and education. The foundation provides state-of-the-art healthcare to cancer patients.
