ANNE MURATA, 20-year veteran of the local advertising, marketing and publishing industry, has been named to the newly created position of vice president, marketing, of Hawai'i publishing company Media-HI. Among her responsibilities will be the launch of the 8-year-old firm's newest statewide visitor publication, "The Aloha Maps of Hawai'i." Murata was most recently group publisher and national marketing manager for Guest Informant in Hawai'i, one of various visitor information magazines published by the company with a combined readership of more than 2 million.

• M. Dyer & Sons has named REBECCA PARKER president of the employee-owned moving and storage company. Parker, who joined the company in 1986 as accountant, also has served as office manager vice president and general manager. In her new position, she will continue to have responsibility for running the administrative and sales team for commercial sales, national account business and record storage operation.

Also promoted was ERIC ISODA, from operations manager to vice president, operations. He will continue to oversee the company's $1 million moving and transportation fleet and 63,000-square-foot Pearl City warehouse operations.

• The Harold K.L. Castle Foundation has hired noted children's rights and community-change agent TERRENCE "TERRY" GEORGE as executive director. George was chief program officer of the Consuelo Foundation, where he oversaw completion of a self-help Wai'anae housing project, started the "Ways to Work" family loan program and helped Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children launch the Child-at-Risk Evaluation Program.

He also worked for the Ford Foundation throughout South Asia. Castle Foundation awards grants of about $7 million a year, originally focused on Windward O'ahu youth, private education and healthcare groups.

It has expanded recently to include public-education reform and near-shore marine resource conservation.

SHEILA CHONG, a partner in the local venture capital/consulting firm Hawaii Venture Group, has joined Hawaii Commercial Real Estate. As an office building leasing and sales specialist, she will be responsible for negotiating office building leases and assisting buyers and sellers of investment properties.

SCOTT KAWAMURA, who joined CP Advertising last year as senior designer, has been promoted to director of design services in that division for the full-service advertising arm of Communications Pacific. He is also a graphic design lecturer at Honolulu Community College.

DEBRA JASON, for 15 years owner of the Ha'ena, Kaua'i-based marketing business the Write Direction, has been named to the board of directors of the Kaua'i North Shore Business Council, an economic promotion and advocacy group promoting the Garden Isle's north shore community. Jason is also a Realtor-associate with Vision Properties in Kapa'a, Kaua'i.
