Abbott pitches Tennessee to softball Classic title

Monica Abbott pitched a six-hitter and struck out 15 as Tennessee topped Oregon State, 2-0, yesterday in the championship game of the Hawai'i Paradise Classic at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.
Abbott (6-0) did not walk a batter.
Angela Brewer hit an RBI single and Lauren Mattox had an RBI double for the Lady Vols (6-1).
Mia Longfellow batted 3 for 3 for the Beavers (9-3).

Tennessee 4, Hawai'i 1: Monica Abbott pitched a two-hitter with nine strikeouts and Tennessee scored three runs in the top of the seventh to advance to the championship game.
Hawai'i finished the tournament in third place.
Oregon State 8, St. Mary's 0: Monica Hoffman and Ta'Tyana McElroy teamed on a five-inning perfect game with six strikeouts as Oregon State advanced to the championship game.
St. Mary's finished the tournament in fourth place.
St. Mary's 5, Alabama-Birmingham 1: Jennifer Eaton pitched a four-hitter and Claudia Williams homered to lead St. Mary's.
Alabama-Birmingham finished the tournament in fifth place.
