Warriors get jump on 2005 recruiting season

Less than a week after announcing its 2004 recruiting class, the University of Hawai'i football team began working on the 2005 season, securing commitments from cornerback Terry Wilson of Junipero Serra High in Gardena, Calif., and defensive lineman Paul Harmon of Skyline High in Oakland.

Both players today told The Advertiser they will sign scholarship agreements this week and enroll at UH in January 2005. They will participate in spring practice that year, and then have five years to play four seasons.

"This works out fine for me," said the 6-foot, 190-pound Wilson, who ran 40 yards in an electronically timed 4.47 seconds at the Nike Combine last summer. He is projected to compete at cornerback for the Warriors.

Harmon, who is 6 feet 2 and 250 pounds, turned down offers from Colorado State and New Mexico. "I enjoyed my recruiting trip (to Hawai'i)," Harmon said. "Everybody was so nice. I really had a good time out there."

Harmon was named to the Oakland Athletic League’s second team.
