United adding Japan flight

Advertiser Staff

United Airlines is adding a second daily flight between Tokyo-Narita and Honolulu starting in June to meet rising demand.

The carrier will have three Japan-Hawai'i flights a day with the addition. It currently operates a daily flight between Tokyo-Narita and Honolulu and a daily flight between Osaka and Honolulu, which restarted last March. United has a total of 24 daily flights to Hawai'i from the Mainland and Japan.

The new Tokyo-Honolulu flight starts June 11, and tickets will be sold starting Feb. 10.

United will fly the new Tokyo-Honolulu flight with a Boeing 777 aircraft carrying 194 seats in economy, 10 in first class and 49 in business class.

Gov. Linda Lingle said the addition of the flight "is welcome news and another sign of the confidence airlines have in our state's strengthening visitor market."
