Directors duel with staging at two paces
Advertiser Staff and News Services
Talk about edgy theater: Two aspiring directors, working with the same actors on the same bill, will "compete" in staging the same scene with no rehearsals.
As part of Kumu Kahua Theatre's Dark Night Series, "The Work," described as kind of a theatrical "Iron Chef," will be staged at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow. The emerging directors are Christy Hauptman and Troy M. Apostol, who will be shaping a scene written by local playwright Eric Yokomori.
Tickets: $5, available by calling 536-4441 weekdays.

"Reel Comedy," with guest host Rob Schneider, who plays Ula, Sandler's Hawaiian sidekick, will look at how and where the movie was made.
Filmed mostly in Hawai'i, "50 First Dates" opens in theaters Friday.
The stars discuss shooting on location in Hawai'i, goofing around on the set and the fact that sharks, while they may bite, are your friends. If you miss it the first time around, "Reel Comedy" will be aired several times the rest of the week. Check local listings.
