BYUH forward Smylie honored by PacWest

Brigham Young University-Hawai'i basketball forward Austin Smylie was named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week yesterday.

Smylie, a sophomore from Salt Lake City, scored 13 points in a loss to Hawai'i-Hilo on Tuesday and a career-high 20 points against Chaminade on Saturday.

In the two games, he had 16 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block for the league-leading Seasiders.

Kealoha, Kwon win medals: Honolulu's Jordan Kealoha won silver and Kane'ohe's Anthony Kwon took bronze at the inaugural Tokyo International Juvenile Judo Championships recently.

The event was for children ages 8 to 12. Kealoha (101-pound division) and Kwon (77 pounds) are 11 years old.

The USA Judo Junior Team won seven medals against 1,200 international competitors.
