"The West Wing," 8 p.m., NBC. A secret nuclear detonation is discovered in the Indian Ocean. The president orders bombers into the air and is ready to destroy the uranium deposits of the country involved. But first he needs to be sure which country is the perpetrator. Meanwhile, C.J. is confronted by a talk-show host, and Josh is dazzled by a beautiful NASA administrator.

"In Search of Shakespeare," 8 p.m., PBS. When the opening hour of this four-week documentary ended, William Shakespeare seemed to be headed nowhere. A decade later he would impress London. But what happened during what some scholars call "the lost years"? Michael Wood looks at evidence that Shakespeare was a teacher and joined a touring theater troupe.
