Hawai'i resorts get gold medals

Hawai'i is home to eight of Golf Magazine's 25 "Gold Medal Resorts" and three of its "50 Silver Medal Resorts." The biennial lists are in the March issue, out this week.

A survey sent to the magazine's subscribers determined the lists. Readers rated a maximum of six resorts they had visited by grading how each performed in various categories. Sixty percent of these categories were "golf-specific," forty percent addressed "meals, accommodations, service, and other resort attributes."

The Hawai'i gold medalists are, in alphabetical order: Four Seasons Resort Hualalai, Kapalua, Kaua'i Marriott, Lodge at Ko'ele, Manele Bay Hotel, Mauna Lani, Princeville and Wailea Resort.

Silver medalists are Hyatt Regency Kaua'i/Po'ipu Bay, Makena Resort/Westin Maui Prince Hotel and Mauna Kea.
