Your spare change can buy you fun

Here's a way to help your Valentine save for whatever splurge may strike her fancy.

These six-inch tall ceramic change jars are fun and funky reminders to help her meet a goal. They're emblazoned with: "Casino Cash," "Boob Job," "Girl's Night Out" or "College Fund." Then there's the "Whatever" jar. Hawai'i's best seller is, predictably, "Las Vegas Vacation."

All are available for $15 each at My Little Secret at Ward Warehouse.

Have a cozy cottage Valentine's Day

It's a little bit Martha Stewart and a little bit shabby chic. Cottage by the Sea at Ward Warehouse offers home décor and gift items reminiscent of cottage stores in places like Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard. The store is owned by the folks who brought us Hawaii Doggie Bakery & Gift Shop.

They'll serve you hot tea and samples of fresh scones while you shop, and crafters present in-store demonstrations from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursdays.

Special Valentine's bonus: a free chocolate tasting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Still looking for that Valentine's gift? Consider Cottage by the Sea push pins ($14 a set), with messages such as "Kiss Me," "Cutie" and "Say Yes."
