Ex-UH star Jackson gets Titan invite

Former University of Hawai'i football player Nate Jackson has been invited to the Tennessee Titans' training camp in July.
In addition, Jackson, a defensive back, said he will play in NFL Europe this spring. Jackson will leave next week to participate in a three-week NFL Europe training camp in Florida. After the camp, he will be assigned to an NFL Europe team.
"I'm excited," Jackson said.
Jackson, who also played baseball at UH, was an All-Western Athletic Conference safety. He participated in the Titans' training camp in 2001 before leaving because of personal reasons.
In 2002, he underwent surgery to replace a heart valve that was weakened because of an infection.
"I'm fine now," Jackson said.
Jackson's agent, Leo Goeas, said competing in NFL Europe "affords him the opportunity to go to training camp and compete for a roster spot."
Last month, Jackson had signed to play with the Hawaiian Islanders of arenafootball2.
"He's very thankful for the Islanders, but this was something he couldn't pass up," Goeas said.
