Support high for family group

Child and Family Service has received a $25,000 grant from the Bank of Hawaii Charitable Foundation and a $10,000 grant from the Sidney Stern Memorial Trust toward the cost of building a playground with special safety features at Hau'oli Na Keiki, a school for autistic children.

Through the Hawai'i Visitor Industry Charity Walk, the Hawai'i Hotel Industry Foundation awarded Child and Family Service $5,000 to buy recreational materials for the Kona Group Home, $3,000 to support Gerontology Chore Services and $2,000 for supplies at Hale Ohana Hilo.

Supporting the Foster Parents/Foster Parent Recruitment, Training and Support Network, the Victoria S. and Bradley L. Geist Foundation awarded the program a $40,000 grant.

Kamehameha Schools provided a $5,000 grant to assist Child and Family Service in hosting the recent conference, "Children of Prisoners: Impact on the Innocent."

In continued support of the agency's domestic-abuse shelters, the Ellen M. Koenig Memorial Trust awarded a $10,000 grant toward shelter operations.

$5,000 to help 'Amadeus' play

Diamond Head Theatre received a $5,000 grant from the Ellen M. Koenig Memorial Fund of the Hawai'i Community Foundation to support its 2004 production of "Amadeus."

Aloha Harvest given $10,000

Aloha Harvest, a Hawai'i-based nonprofit organization that works in partnership with food distributors to deliver donated perishable food to feed Hawai'i's hungry, has received a $10,000 grant from The Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. The money will be used to expand the collection and distribution of food to social service agencies on O'ahu.

The Children's Alliance of Hawaii maintains programs and projects designed to aid children and adolescents as they heal from abuse.

The organization offers assistance to youths through the distribution of goods, services and programs. Some of the provisions include clothing, school supplies, tutoring, orthodontia and the ability to participate in school/extracurricular activities.
