A 27-year-old Mo'ili'ili man was charged yesterday in connection with an attack Friday on his former girlfriend, who suffered critical injuries.

Anthony K.K. Nao of Farrington Street was charged with attempted murder and violating a court order. His bail is $100,000. Nao was arrested at his home at 8:30 p.m. Friday, about 6› hours after the attack was reported.

Police said Nao confronted the 30-year-old woman near Kuhio School at 2 p.m. Friday, and that he struck her several times with an unknown object. The woman pushed him away and ran into a nearby shop for help. Nao, however, allegedly struck the woman on her body and neck with a sharp object in the shop before fleeing.

The woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center with critical injuries. Police said they had no word on her condition today.
