Mililani girls, Kaiser boys win OIA swimming championships
Advertiser Staff
Mililani's girls and Kaiser's boys won titles at the O'ahu Interscholastic Association Swimming and Diving Championships Saturday at the Kalani High pool.
The Trojans' depth proved enough to offset a strong performance by Kapolei's Meredith Egloria. Mililani scored 193 points despite not winning a single event.
Egloria set a meet record in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.89, won the 200 free and swam on two winning relay teams as the Hurricanes finished second with 181 points.
Kalaheo's Brittney Beauchan also set a meet record, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.16.
Kaiser captured all three relay events to easily win the boys title with 294.5 points. Second-place Leilehua had 162 points.
Kapolei's Ed Afualo set a meet record in the 100 breaststroke in 1:00.57.
