UH pitcher Rodrigues out for season

Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i left-handed pitcher Mark Rodrigues said today that he will be out for the season because of a ligament tear in his throwing elbow.

Rodrigues, a transfer from Los Medanos College, was supposed to be one of the Rainbows starting pitchers. He has yet to pitch this season.

Rodrigues said the injury occurred a week before the season opener against Texas. At the time, he thought it was minor and would eventually heal. But a magnetic resonance imaging test revealed a tear.

Rodrigues, from Koloa, Kaua'i, was drafted out of Kaua'i High in 2001 and after his first season at Los Medanos in 2002.
