Join Camile Velasco's family and friends at 7 tonight and be part of a mass viewing of "American Idol" at Dave & Buster's at Ward Entertainment Complex. Velasco, an 18-year-old waitress from Maui, will be the first of three Island contestants to compete on the Fox-TV reality series.

Some Velasco family and friends are flying in from the Valley Island to attend the screening party at 7 p.m., when households here are watching.

Radio station 93.9-FM's Rory Wild and Krey-Z Oshiro will host. There will be pre-show entertainment and contests. Because crowds are expected, there will be two big-screen locations — one in the main showroom, with Wild hosting, and the other on the rooftop, with Oshiro hosting.

If you can't wait for the results and want to watch the show earlier through satellite feeds, Eastside Grill at 952 University Ave. will link to the Midwest feed at 4 p.m. and show the West Coast feed at 5 p.m.

Interview on KHNL

Camile Velasco will be interviewed at 6:30 tonight on "Entertainment Tonight," the No. 1 entertainment magazine show on KHNL-8. She and other contestants will be profiled before tonight's "Idol" competition at 7 p.m. on KHON-2.

AT&T Wireless, a sponsor of the Fox reality series, will provide plenty of phones for viewers to send their text-messaging votes, from 7:55 to 10 tonight, a little more than two hours after the telecast. Watch the show for Velasco's four-digit voting code.

Admission to the viewing party is free.

Similar viewing sessions are anticipated at Dave & Buster's for the other two Island contestants, Jonah Moananu on Feb. 24 and Jasmine Trias on March 2.

To vote for Velasco or other contestants competing tonight, dial the four-digit code shown after her performance or, if you are an AT&T subscriber, text-message your vote on your wireless phone. Follow instructions (select menu, message, text message, and then create), type in VOTE, then enter the four-digit number assigned to Velasco. You may vote any number of times.

Tonight is the second round of the semifinals. Velasco is one of eight "Idol" hopefuls performing. The two top vote-getters will be named on tomorrow's show at 7:30 p.m.
