Emme's 'Island Moments' show moving back to KHON

After a 10-year run at KGMB TV, Emme Tomimbang is moving her show, "Emme's Island Moments," back to previous home KHON next month.

"I'm going full circle," said Tomimbang, host and producer of the magazine series, which profiles and examines the work and lifestyle of Island personalities and celebrities.

Her first show back on KHON will be at 9 p.m. March 4, when she reassembles her first guests from a decade ago — actor Jason Scott Lee and the musical group Hapa — and examines the saga of the late surfing sensation, Rell Sunn.

Her other self-produced series, "Emme's Island Living," with a health and fitness orientation, will remain at KGMB, with shows remaining in the 5 p.m. slot every Saturday. Reruns are now airing.

Rick Blangiardi, senior vice president and general manager of KGMB and KHON (both owned by Emmis Communications), said the move back to Channel 2 makes sense because KHON, the Fox affiliate, "has a lot more latitude with inventory than on Channel 9 (the CBS affiliate). ... It allows us a greater opportunity for us to schedule her show (on Channel 2) in a stronger time period and backup with promotion."

Tomimbang, an independent producer-host, likely will make cameo appearances on Channel 2 newscasts in the morning and in the evening, whenever appropriate, to cross-promote her return and the relaunch of "Island Moments."

"I guess in an indirect way, I will again be working with Joe Moore," she said. "It's nice to say hello again, after saying goodbye 10 years ago."
