CURTAIN CALLS: Ron Bright, "retired" drama teacher and director, has committed to stage an alumni-community production of the Tony Award-winning "A Chorus Line" in the summer of 2005 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the theater that bears his name at Castle High School. Already signed on to the production team: choreographer Marcelo Pacleb. That combo should draw a bevy of folks who've previously appeared in Castle shows. Next up for Bright: directing the Castle Performing Arts Company's "Cinemagic" Feb. 27 at the Bright Theatre, with a cast of 60 students from Windward area schools; and an April production of "Noises Off," the quick-paced slapstick comedy, at Paliku Theatre on the campus of Windward Community College. ...

Dates to circle: "Camelot," starring Tina Shelton as Guenevere, opens May 13 at the Army Community Theatre's Richardson Theatre, with Eden-Lee Murray directing, Deanna Luster choreographing, and Daren Kimura conducting the orchestra. Auditions are set for 7 p.m. March 8-10 for other roles, including those of King Arthur and Sir Lancelot, to sing the likes of "How to Handle a Woman" and "If Ever I Would Leave You." ...

Former Miami Dolphins head coach Don Shula and his wife enjoyed dinner at Pacific 'O in Lahaina a few nights back. Restaurant partner Stephan Bel-Robert knew that among the records accrued during the great coach's tenure was that the Dolphins were — and still are — the only NFL team ever to go undefeated and win the Super Bowl in the same season. He wasn't quite sure of the year, however. For the record, it was 1972. ...

It pays to have an ordained minister as a co-pilot aboard the Atlantis Submarine. Last month, sub co-pilot James Blakely performed a marriage ceremony 130 feet below the surface of the Pacific Ocean, off Waikiki, when Diana Sheldon and Kurt Ehrhart of Connecticut, here on vacation, said their "I do's" as fish, eels, turtles and other "witnesses" of the sea swam by the portholes. "We like adventure, and it seemed like an amazing thing to even attempt to do," said the groom. Added the bride, "It was a fun way to start our lives together." Brings new meaning to "taking the plunge." ...

No wonder he hasn't visited in a while: Comedian Rip Taylor is prepping to launch his one-man play, "It Ain't All Confetti," March 12 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Kind of an off-the-strip kickoff (think off-Broadway, in glitz city) for an eventual run in a Las Vegas showroom. ...

Actors/jewelry designers Gene Allen and Rex Nockengust have been marking Nockengust's birthdays on both sides of the Pacific.
