HCC event lets sleuths solve crime
Advertiser Staff
Imagine yourself a sleuth?
Figure you can solve even the most dastardly of crimes?
Then "Who Done It?" is for you.
All it takes is signing up for a night of sleuthing at Honolulu Community College before the Feb. 27 registration deadline. Registration at the HCC Library is $10 for a five-person team, but only one person per team needs to sign up.
The event patterned after the popular Sherlock Holmes Night formerly sponsored by the Honolulu Police Department involves an imaginary crime concocted by authors Gary Dias and Robbie Dingeman-Dias, also an Advertiser reporter.
The crime scene is HCC. The question is "Who Squashed Willoughby Smith?"
Participating teams will gather from 5 to 9 p.m. March 19 and will be given four hours to view the "crime scene," interview a variety of celebrity "suspects" and find "clues" on campus.
The event is sponsored by HCC's Administration of Justice student club, Student Life and Development and the Student Senate.
Included in the event are demonstrations by SWAT and hazmat teams, food, musical entertainment, a book signing, a costume contest with a criminal justice theme and door prizes worth more than $1,000.
Dias will discuss the solution after the winners are announced.
