THE LEFT LANE
Playing Episcopalian

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Loosely based on the classic capitalist game Monopoly, Episcopopoly is about more than money. Instead of building houses and hotels, the object is to build a church, but it's also intended to teach kids about stewardship.

Instead of choosing to be a top hat, a race car or a dog, players move around the board using tokens such as a baptismal font, a lamb, a dove or the bell tower from the University of the South, an Episcopal college.

The squares on the board are churches and seminaries that agreed to help financially sponsor the first 3,500 games. There are fewer than 250 of the games available at the National Cathedral Bookstore in Washington, D.C., www.cathedral.org (click on the cathedral, then the museum shops).

Peace march Sunday

NOOR FATIMA
Noor Fatima, a tot born with a heart defect, brought together Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Christians last year in support for peace between India and Pakistan when a road between the rival countries reopened to allow her access to health care.

"The heart of a little girl brought these two rival countries together," says Dr. Inam Rahman, a Honolulu physician who helped organize a Hawai'i Hearts For Peace march after learning about the Fatima case. The march, in the wake of ones in Pakistan and elsewhere, shows support for that area's peace efforts. It begins at at 9 a.m. Sunday at Fort DeRussy and ends at Kapi'olani Park. Sign-ups and information: Jennifer, 941-9438.
